The VEGETABLE  Juice

Here’s a kind of juice which can be prepared fresh at home and be taken at anytime during the day. I take this vegetable juice to fill me in the morning,  3pm in the afternoon or when I don’t feel like eating a heavy meal for dinner. Take note to at least drink a glass of water after an hour or later on during the day.

Vegetables require a proper selection to provide you its highest quality. Buy vegetables while freshly displayed at the market and store it immediately when reaching home.

Allow me to introduce the so- called ‘Hana’s  Special V-Juice’  @Hana’s Kitchen (:)

We need the following vegetables to prepare  the juice – Hana’s  Special V-Juice

. Fresh carrot

. Fresh Parsley / celery stalks

. Fresh Bell peppers – red and green

. Fresh cucumber

. Fresh green chili (optional)

.  a slice of  fresh young ginger

IMG_20130623_220806

All of the above, wash each vegetable thoroughly and trim off any unwanted parts. Remove any darkened portions or trim off any parts of the vegetable that seem not pleasing for your taste buds:) Arrange into sequence that’s reachable for you to grab during the time of  juicing.

Check your electric juicer … switch on electric juicer machine and push the vegetables into the vent (Watch your fingers)  accordingly until finished. Pour the juice into a glass using a sieve to filter any fiber (optional).  Stir the juice and serve.

Juice is recommended to be taken when freshly juiced. Adding some water into the juice before drinking is optional.

Hana’s Special Vegetable Juice  is shared here today for special people like you  (:) Hope you like it.

Lunchtime: A  butty, cheese, chicken and tomato sandwich . A bounty chocolate bar. A glass of water.

Here’s my  juice for tea break!

Pomegranate And Vegetable Juice

The Recipe

Choose Sweet ripened pomegranate  seeds (1/4 cup)

One carrot (sliced thinly)

3 stalks of young cilantro or Italian parsley ( roots can be included)

An inch of young ginger (thinly sliced)

How to juice?

Step 1

Wash the fresh carrot, cilantro or parsley and wipe it dry with kitchen towel

Chop them into small portions to blend.

Wash and peel the ginger, slice thinly

Step 2

Put the pomegranate seeds into the blender, add half glass of cold boiled water or filtered water. Blend

Blend until the pomegranate seeds are refined.  To extract the juice, use a fine strainer to segregate the pulp. Set aside.

Using the same blender, pour 1/4 glass of boiled water or filtered water, add carrots, ginger and cilantro. Blend thoroughly. Strain.

Combine together the strained juices, quick blend once and pour into a tall glass, serve!

or chill for 10 minutes or add some ice cubes before serving.

Breakfast Smoothie @Hana’s Kitchen … Slurp!  its delicious and nutritious for breakfast.

I am in my fifty’s and I am getting cautious to what I eat mainly, I am looking too rounded by the waist. Being short makes me darn angry seeing  a barrel sized shadow whenever I happen to pass by a big mirror. I feel pretty embarrassed somehow:-

My husband gives an assurance that he loves me no matter what look I have and I believe him. Yet, to look  slim is somehow a fantasy… and I believe watching what I eat is a very good initiative to me. This is how this Breakfast Smoothie came about.

Light and easy to digest breakfast.

I shall be sharing more recipe on beverages  in my next  posts. Wish you a blessed day with thanks.

Note: Drink  a glass of warm water before breakfast and after breakfast.

The Black Fungus Soup

Greetings everyone!

I posted some black fungus images yesterday and today, its my joy to share  the ‘Black Fungus Soup’: it’s health benefits and its preparation.

Before sharing the procedure allow me to thank my friend Marie. She introduced and advised me about the Black fungus (Mok Yee in Cantonese) soup making and its health benefits.
Marie, when you happen to come across this page, thank you for sharing me one of your secrets. I’d been enjoying it since you told me to cook and nourish. To me, its delicious!
Here’s the procedure forwarded by my friend Marie:-
‘Preparation:
1) Pick a handful of Mok Yee and soak in water for 1-2 hours
2) Wash Mok Yee and cut to pieces with scissors.
3) Pour five bowls of plain water into slow cooker (crock pot)
4) Put 2-3 slices of ginger, 8-10 red dates, 20 kay-chee (wolf berry) into crock pot.
5) Bring to boil for 8 hours. One and a half bowls of  black fungus /Mok Yee soup will remain after boiling overnight.
Eat black fungus and drink the soup.
Consumption:
For those with low blood pressure consume less or take alternate days. Drink Mok Yee first thing in the morning with empty stomach. Consume at least one large bowl in 7 to 14 days. Take breakfast 2 hours later.’
Take note:
Do not eat oily or fried foods during this period but continue taking multivitamins, fresh fruits and vegetables specially if you feel a bit of tiredness in 3-4 days of eating the black fungus soup.
… and …
‘The internet info. claims that Mok Yee reduces blood clot, preventing thrombosis, atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease, and cancer.
Black Fungus contains abundant proteins, ferric iron, calcium, vitamins, rough fibre; the content of protein is equal to meat.’
In reference to the above, I have no health issues but when good friends give something beneficial, acceptance and trying is a joy. Just remember dear friends/readers to take anything new in moderation; listen to your body.
If you have health problems, consult your  ‘ health physician’ prior taking the ‘Black Fungus Soup’.
Lastly, be very cautious to cook the soup as required to prevent any unseen event like food poisoning, etc.
The Black Fungus Soup ready for consumption :- Its contents are black fungus, ginger slices, wolf berries, some red dates and water. No salt added.
